UFC’s Site Quality Assurance Program (SQAP) ensures that all spray foam installers are properly trained, evaluated, and certified to meet Canadian industry standards. As part of the program, UFC verifies manufacturer training to ensure accuracy and completeness, including material-specific guidelines such as spray conditions and storage requirements.
Training typically runs over three days, combining classroom instruction and hands-on application, with a final evaluation conducted by UFC. Installers are required to bring appropriate PPE for assessment.
Use one of the following links to contact a manufacturer of spray foam insulation to attend an upcoming training session in your area. They can also advise of training courses that you may wish to travel to.
UFC staff will attend the final day of training to deliver a written and practical test. These tests are based on the national standards and include job site requirements, equipment usage and settings, material handling, application techniques, troubleshooting and site testing requirements. Once you have demonstrated the necessary competencies, you will be granted a UFC certification valid for any of the materials in our program, for a period of 5 years.
Each year, installers are required to complete an annual license renewal, completed online, to verify on-going compliance with the requirements of the national standards and the UFC Site Quality Assurance Program. Every 5 years, installers must recertify by completing a practical test that can be scheduled on a job site or during one of the manufacturer training sessions.
